How $%#^@ hard is it to COMMUNICATE information effectively?
So I was all proud of myself last week on the job for getting what I thought was to the end of a big study efficiently and on time. Nope. Apparantly after analyzing the data (which the report is due tomorrow) they found some more work. Okay fine- I knocked out what I thought was the last 2 on Tuesday. Nope still not done. Apparantly there were still TWO more. And they knew that no testing was being done yesterday (we had a group outing and didn't get much time on site) but my boss said to be on the safe side to send a reminder e-mail to the people who needed to know so that I would know which 2 of the 150 plus samples needed to be tested at what dilutions, and so that the guy whose job is to keep track of samples could pull them. I said I was gonna come in early today (at 7am) so I could have the testing and paperwork done by the end of the day. Well the guy who handles the samples was gone when we got back late yesterday but I figured he'll be in early and have the info so if I prep before he gets in I will still be ready to go. Well they told him that some samples were being processed early by me today. BUT THEY DIDN'T TELL HIM WHICH SAMPLES. I had to wait until someone came in and read my "what samples am I testing" e-mail this morning which was about 9am.ARRGH. Two hours of thumb twiddling. THen the request was so damn complicated with differing dilutions this that and the other-plus I found that one of the reagents someone stocked for use in our buffers was wrong so I had to throw out and make more. So my testing which I thought would get started about 8amish didn't really get started until about 11:30. AARGH. I knew I was having a long day anyway cause there is a training session scheduled at 4;30-5:30 today, but now, I might be too busy catching up to even do that. And since I was so aggravated and the testing was the most complex I have had to do yet, I am not even sure I did my stuff correctly. Someone else is doing this shit tomorrow if I doesn't work. I am tired tired tired of this crap!
Sorry about this but its either vent or break down in tears or strangle someone!!
Having a very bad day, week, month, year, life.....
