Are you on a "Live" album/CD?
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 09:35 AM by DaveTheWave
Two for me I think. Both bands claimed to be recording live in several cities for their next live album. "Kickin'" (who?) somewhere around '78 and "Nugent" around '80

Edit - Both in Omaha, NE

7. Yes, at least two or three.
Mike Keneally's "Guitar Therapy Live" was recorded at several shows, and I attended one of them.

Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland recorded a live video in Philadelphia, and I attended one of the two shows filmed for it.

I was also at shows by The Who and Genesis that were recorded for release through themusic.com (along with all the other shows on the tours). Technically, I suppose I'm in there somewhere.

10. Yeah
Those "several city" ones make you wonder. People all around me were yelling stupid shit, their names and lighting firecrackers so that they could tell everybody, "That was in Omaha and that was me"

8. Not officially.
But with all the jam band shows I've seen, and the fact that almost all of them encourage tape trading, I'm sure I'm represented by a few zillion bootlegs.

11. yup, and a studio CD
from back when I was playing saxaphone for a salsa band. We got hired to do the backup for a guy from Puerto Rico I had never heard of, but I got a copy of the CD and a decent paycheck for it.

That, and a couple of CDs with the Army Bands I played in, but I doubt they count.

13. Cool
I couldn't believe it when I first enlisted in the Army that there was an MOS for nearly every musical instrument :patriot:

14. Yup, they have to split it up that way
to keep the band instrumentation correct. Otherwise you'd end up with 22 trumpet players and no drummers in a band.

Interesting note - when I was in, my MOS 02K (bassoon) was the smallest in the Army. There were usually less than 30 of us at any one time. And because of the way bands are staffed (one 02K per band) we rarely met each other.

What was your MOS?

The video is NOTHING AT ALL like the concert. Almost like another event really. The diner was incredible. Winterland was magificent, all dressed up. Muddy Watters was just so incredible.

20. Kinda
Years ago I was in the front row for a local benefit concert. No big names just local groups.

I didn't even know that they recorded and distributed a CD until I was at a friends house and I heard myself at the end of a song cheering the band on.

22. The Chimps "Live at the Safari Club"

The Chimps were a slightly reconfigured Satan's Pilgrims, with Ted stepping out from behind the drum kit to do vocals on some classic and original garage rock tunes. It was a great show, out there at Gen Gen's Safari Room in Estacada, OR. I doubt I speeled all that correctly.

34. A local band called the WiseGuys.
We went to the UCO Jazz Lab here in Oklahoma City, and they were taping their first album. It was a blast. They're fantastic. Just a bunch of older dudes playing GREAT covers from Rolling Stones to Aerosmith. They rock.
