My hero is playing for his career this weekend
I always like the hard luck cases. The guys with limited ability and the hearts of lions. Maybe that's how I would like to see myself.

Anyway, Chad Pennington, who defied the odds and battled back from two career threatening shoulder surgeries to take his team to playoffs could very likely play his last starting game for the Jets on Sunday if he doesn't turn in a stellar performance.

I was a huge Vinnie Testeverder fan - how ironic that he may be starting this weekend as well. But you could see that spark, the give everything you've to the end, attitude in Chad from the moment he first took the field. So I wasn't so bummed when Chad replaced Vinnie.

And while I like this kid Kellen Clemens, and do concede he would bring a new dimension to the passing offense, it will break my heart if Chad is sent to the bench at 31 years of age after working so hard and getting so close to reaching his dreams.

Anyway, if you're an Eagles or Patriots fan, I don't expect much sympathy. But if not, maybe keep him in your thoughts Sunday between 1 and 4pm.

1. I'm flying up from Tampa tomorrow.
Brother's got season tix in the upper deck.

I feel the same way about Chad. He's my hero too, and I don't want to see him on the bench, but you know what? He's a smart, professional SOB who will find a way to help his team win regardless of whether he plays or not. He'll be a great coach someday.

J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

3. Yes, he will be an amazing coach!
I guess I'll have to get that NFL package next year if he ends up playing for the Bears. If the Dolphins get him at least I'll get to see him 2x a year.
