Okay...I thought this was funny and I hope someone else does too. |

I went to a tex mex restaurant and ordered a frozen margarita with an extra salty glass. I got my margarita and the waiter sat a small empty rocks glass down with a salted rim and then walked away. I MEANT extra salt on the margarita glass but I GOT an EXTRA GLASS with salt on it. get it? It cracked me up but I am easily amused anyway.

That's pretty lame. but funny as hell. Maybe "with extra salt on it" might be the way to go next time. I have a fave margi place and I will try to order this way next time and see how it comes out....

Oh. My. God.
It did take me a moment, but I got it! My slowness is due to fatigue and emotional upset...
The Tribe lost...
But I agree...your story is funny!
Thank you for sharing...

A can think of three possibilities. The waiter was a) making a joke b) dumb as a stump, or c) a total grammar-nazi.
Which was it?

4. That's funny. So did you lick the small glass, then take a sip of margarita? |
|
An older gentleman friend of my family was in Germany and ordered a dry martini. The waiter brought three martinis. Ein, zwei, drei!

|
I licked it like the lady that I am and giggled in between slurps of the 'rita.

5. I was backpacking thru Europe in 89 |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 12:45 AM by rakeeb
with my sister. She wasn't big into assimilating, or even "tasting" other cultures for lunch, she was big on hitting the Burger King's and McDonalds in Europe. I was big on photographing the contrast they created in their environment there.
We were in Florence for two days. We walk into a small cafe for dinner. I pointed out to her that someone had what looked like a burger. She orders a "cheeseburger," in her loud, slow, sing-songy and grand gesturing way of delivering english like that makes it easier for non-english speakers. The waiter brings her a small plate with a beef patty and a small plate with three slices of provolone. I suggested to my sister that perhaps with larger gestures she could communicated her order more effectively, and quietly thanked the waiter on my way back to the WC for making my day. Yes the wait staff and cook were laughing.
But this all leads into my question: did you use grand gestures and speak loud and slow when you added the extra salted glass?

7. No grand gestures, just my own little voice. The waiter looked to be about 12. |

6. How about a Margarita in a wine glass? |
|
We were in a Mexican restaurant with another couple. He was going to order a bottle of wine with the meal, and noticed there were only 3 wine glasses on the table.
The waiter took our drink orders. "Margarita" "Margarita" "Margarita" "I'll have a Margarita an' a wine glass."
Three of us were served our drinks in proper Margarita glasses. His was in a wine glass.
