What type of businesses, does your city/town have too many of?
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 12:15 PM by Liberalynn
Ours has way too many gas stations, pharmacies, pizza shops, coffe/bagel places, fast food places, and Italian resturaunts. Now don't get me wrong I love Italian food, its just some variety would be nice.

We did finally get an Applebees but a Red Lobster would be great. We do have one Mexican but its way expensive and always too crowded, and one decent Chineese, then a kind of fast food type Chineese. There's just so little choice for a medium priced nice meal.

We desperately need a book store too and a Best Buy or Circut City, and some kind of alternative to Wally World for clothes and other non food items.

Luckily we have a great supermarket for food.

But is our business recruiters working on any of those alternatives! No they just keep bringing in more pharmacies and breakfast shops.

64. Actually, I've never been....
but your profile said you lived in Florida, and that pretty much meant Tampa, if there's that many strip joints. It could only be Tampa or South Florida (they closed most of them down in the Orlando area), and living in South Florida, I know there's a lot of strip joints here, but not nearly that many. So, Tampa it is.

We live in what used to be pretty much a rural area, but now there is less noise, when I stay at my sister's house, and she lives in a much bigger city. There's dozens of cars going by every few seconds.

Our town council looks set to approve yet another development too.

27. Nope. The various churches occasionally change their songs.
That's why it never becomes white noise.

It's actually every 15 minutes, but it's only bell chimes (no song) on the quarter hour.

Too many Hooters, Wal-Marts and (for whatever reason) Used Tire Shops.

But this being north Texas, I don't expect anything of real substance to become popular (other than farmer's markets-- of which, there is no place in the world that has too many...)

59. Chain anything.
One thing about South Florida -- there is no history. What little Old Florida culture there was has long ago been bulldozed over. There is no sense of permanence. As a result of that, I think, we have a much worse stripmall culture than any place else I've ever been. When I first moved down here and asked about good bars, I often got answers like "Chili's." Made me want to weep.

63. Wal-Marts and Targets.
4 Wal-Marts and 3 Targets in Greensboro, I hear plans for a fourth Target is somewhere in the works.

West side of Greensboro is fairly well served - the east side doesn't have anything good in it - except ironically Wal-Mart (who opened up shop in a part of town desperate for anything). The one on the south side of town is really surplus to requirements IMO. The choice is to go across town, or if you're like us and far enough east of Greensboro it's better to go to Burlington, which is growing like crazy on its west side. Its east side has Cum Park Plaza (short for Cummings) and that's about its highlight.

Is it just me or is it that west side of towns are doing OK and east sides are like ... phtooey - don't give a care? Greensboro west is great, Winston-Salem west is great, Burlington west is great, all the easts are erm... yuck.

Mark.
