We got our DOGGIE REPRIEVE from the City Planner |
|
City council was about half and half, leaning toward listening to the city attorney ("...can't bend law for one...emergency ordnance bends the law...blah blah blah...") enough of them.
The City Planner gave us our reprieve! He said that the "...sense of the council..." in his opinion was to extend the abatement of enforcing the ordnance until the new one was written, commented, and dispositioned (at least 3 months).
DEFINITELY would make our X-mas list if it was ok to give gifts to city officials.

So you're still moving? This just gives you time?

3. Depends on how the final ordnance gets written and shakes out. |
|
I figure the Primary will be when the vote goes (if they take it that way). There will be a new council and mayor by 11/7, so anything could happen. The City Planner isn't elected or appointed though: he's there to stay, so our postponement is his show.
I am too relieved to be believed.

8. I wish I could take credit for the fight! |
|
I think the main reason for the reprieve is this City Planner. I wish I could do something nice for him without appearing politically inappropriate. He really was a human being about the whole thing.

9. thank-you note wouldn't be politically inappropriate |
|
a nice card with a pic of dogs/cats on the front - might even want to include a pic of your critters..
handwritten note inside saying thank-you and you appreciate his help in this matter
it will put a smile on his face - afterall how often city planners/officials get thank-you notes as opposed to angry letters and phone calls?
