Scott Pederson was fired yesterday. Tom Osborne was hired today. Granted, as the Interim AD, but who wants to place bets regarding the timing of the firing and hiring of new coaches?

Much though I don't like Osborne's politics, the man knows how to coach and run a football team.

I just listened to Osborne's press conference. Using the term "interim" seems a bit of a stretch. Basically, he's the AD "until the program is turned around"...which he said could be years.

He also said that Callahan is in charge of the coaching staff, so any firing would come from him. And that Callahan will remain until at least the end of the season, at which point they'll "evaluate" the situation.

I'm just thrilled that they're doing SOMETHING.

5. We're gonna do WHAT?!

Kick your ass with what offense? We scored 7 against Texas Tech. I can go to the day labor assembly point, find 10 guys and we could score 7 on Tech.

Byrne has given us the "end of year evaluation" speech too. That was before the "newsletter" scandal. Coach Overrated is now under .500 in conference play.

Why do I have this feeling that Bo Pellini's phone will ring A LOT this off season? :D

8. You don't need much of an offense

Our defense leaves holes big enough for mac trucks to, not only go through, but whip shitters in. Seriously. Did I mention they're rated 96th in the country? Yeah. It's that bad.

I want Bo Pellini back SO bad. I love him.

9. Well, we are 43 in total offense and 74 in total defense.

I know ALL ABOUT defenses ranked poorly. Trust me. Two years ago, we were in the 100s.

maybe it'll be a close game, then. Assuming that our offense bothers to show up.

The thing is, last week, everyone so obviously just gave up. If your team even shows up, you'll beat us soundly.

I think our team quit last week too. But then, sometimes they rally and play well. They are so inconsistent.

This game will be a real barn burner, I guess. ;)

6. I am now on the Fire Fran bandwagon.

I want him gone. That was a pathetic display of coaching on Saturday. You drive the ball down the field and score. The next series you start driving down the field then they got cute. And after that, it was a clusterfuck of dumb ass plays.

It never really left. Sure, Callahan has made a big deal about his west coast offense, but one of our offense's biggest problems is that Callahan shies away from passing and commits to the run when it's completely not working.

Though I suppose we don't use the actual option play itself all that often...
