Lights Out San Francisco

San Francisco Community Power is supporting Lights Out San Francisco, a grassroots effort to raise awareness about ways to combat global climate change that's being held on Saturday, October 20, from 8 to 9 p.m. On this night, businesses, city and federal government agencies, churches, and individuals are encouraged to turn-off all non-essential lighting to save energy. The Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and much of downtown will be turning off their lights. And 110,000 free energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs will be distributed throughout the City. This event may be replicated throughout the Bay Area and the U.S in the future.
