Today's College Football Thread
The week’s first upset is already in: South Florida (#2 in the BCS) lost to Rutgers on Thursday night. Of the remaining top 5 teams, LSU probably has the biggest test, hosting #17 Auburn. Ohio State could have an interesting game against Michigan State. Boston College has a bye this week, and my Oklahoma Sooners play Iowa State, so they should get through to next week handily.

There are good games out of the top 5 as well:

Kentucky plays host to Florida, and if they can knock off the Gators the week after beating LSU, Kentucky could vault themselves into national title contention.

Texas Tech at Missouri is the only other game featuring two teams in the top 25. Both have impressive quarterbacks, though Missouri’s had a tough week last week against Oklahoma.

Another potentially interesting game in the Big 12: Undefeated Kansas goes to Boulder to play Colorado. A win there and they could be in the top 10 and favored to win the Big 12 north.

Alabama hosts Tennessee in the SEC. Tennessee is ranked once again after starting the season 1-2. But Alabama is always tough at home ...

For my part, I’ll be watching the OU-ISU game early today, and then I’ll be going to the Michigan-Illinois game later this evening. Should be fun :toast:

What games will you be watching?

4. They're 18 point favorites, which seems about right to me
I think Ohio State will probably win by a few touchdowns--they've played really well the last couple of weeks. But Michigan State has actually had a pretty decent season thus far, so I still think they could make it interesting.

North Dakota State is up on Minnesota, 14-7.

Incidentally, iirc, NDSU beat Minnesota in basketball last season too ...

25. OU Escapes with a win
They played a horrible first half, but they were solid in the second half. The running game was great in the second half, and the passing game, while not spectacular, had a couple of well-timed big plays.

A win's a win--this year more than most :)

13. Woohoo! Hey, I just found out this week that a former sooners is NW's Offensive Coordinator
Garrick McGee, who played QB for OU for a couple of years in the mid 90s. He transferred in with pretty high expectations after winning a national title at (I think) Northeast Oklahoma. Those weren't good years for the Sooners, but it wasn't his fault. I was happy to find out he was having so much success in the coaching ranks.

17. What are your thoughts on having Osborne back as AD?
I saw where one or two of the former players who are commentators were pretty ecstatic.

OU played very poorly in the first half, and they have given the ball away three times. But they're getting back in form in the second half ...

18. thrilled . . . . he is a good man . . . a bit conservative . . . and a Repub . . .
but a good man . . . I admire him a lot . . . and I am glad he is once again a part of this team . .

Now - need to get rid of Callahan . . . he is killing this team . . .

He has trailed 15 times at the half while coaching at Nebraska . . . . and guess how many of the 15 he ended up winning . . . none . . . zero. . . . nada . . . .

He cannot come from behind. . . . I just do not understand how he took the Raiders to the Superbowl . . . except that he had to have inherited a great team to start with . . ..

What is the OU score now?

I grew up in Oregon, and used to work concession stands at the Duck games when I was in high school. That was back in the day when the Ducks were not any good, but I loved 'em anyway.

My family still lives in the area, and they are all big fans of the Ducks.

I root for the Cougs when they aren't playing the Ducks.
