Damn dog
Evidentally, the wind was blowing too hard for Emma's liking while we were out buying Halloween costumes. She desperatedly wanted to get into the basement, which was chain-locked, but cracked opened (so cats can come up and down and dogs can't get down to eat their food). This is what was awaiting our return...minus the mess of wood pieces I cleaned up.

I guess it's back to crating them when gone. The man is sooooo pissed.

3. You can live ith it like that for awhile...
I know it's a drag. When I bought my house, there was all kinds of dog damage everywhere. I lived with it for awhile before fixing/replacing.

4. Sand it, paint it, and then replace it later.
Yup, its going to have to be replaced. But a good sanding, some filler, more sanding, and a coat of paint will do wonders to hide the damage until you can hang another one.

I may live with it for a bit, except it's in the foyer and easily seen by anyone at the front door. I'm going to have to replace the chain...again.

7. Poor Emma- so scared and all alone
looking for comfort with her bebbe kitty cellmates who were all probably safe in the basement. Can you imagine the fear? I just want to hug Emma for days now.

The door? Pfft. If the door doesn't give access to the outside, sand it a bit and paint it. It would be fine until you get a new door.

Of course, I'm a silly hillbilly, but thats what I'd do :)

I left my Akita and baby alone today for 6.5 hours. I feared what you got all day. I was lucky. They were angels of course! hehe.. pure luck :P

13. Is that the culprit?
The basement walls looked like that too before my Dad installed 4 foot wood-look laminate sheets along the finished walls. It stopped the cats from using them as scratching posts, but one of the door jambs evidentally worked as well for them. As well as the couch down there. :eyes:

Luckily, my new kitten likes to use actual scratching posts.

Door jambs are popular with him as well. We had the temerity several years ago to buy a leather recliner, which the little fucker tagged before it had been in the house an hour. I think it was the closest Ms Uly has ever come to doing something drastic with what is, after all, *her* cat. :D

when she closed it and had dogs running around.

Of course, the only other alternative was to let the dogs wander in when were having our... *ahem* alone time. And lemme tell ya, nothing spoils the mood faster than a wet dog nose in the wrong place at the wrong time.

60. LOL! My late and great girlie dog, Lee,
actually bequeathed me multiple dented doorknobs from her teeth and scratched doors from her claws. Listen, I know you're mad now, but trust me; when that dog (dogs?) are gone, you'll look at that door and remember the good times. I know I sure do.

In the end, just remember that it's all fixable. Funny thing, though, I lost Lee in January 2006 and STILL have not replaced the doorjamb/knob she totaled. I have no real desire to do so, either - at least until I have to sell the place. :-)
