computer nerds and know-it-alls HELP!
How do burn an ISO file to a CD so that is will work as a program whenever i insert the CD into my drive to runt he program. i tried using nero to burn it but that didn't work since whenever i insert the CD i can only explore the drive and view the files, not open the CD as a program.

2. Multi-step problem.
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 05:29 PM by mainegreen
A cd generally auto-runs when the os detects autorun.inf on the root of the cd. Your ISO file does not have this. So any cd burned from this ISO you run will not auto-run any program. You need to create a new cd project that contains all the files of the cd and the autorun.inf file that tells the OS what file to run when the cd is inserted. Then burn that project to a new CD.

Make sense?

17. Then point it at a .bat (batch) file
And script the batch file to play those files. (ie run the command to play those files)

Batch files:

11. i'm able to burn it just fine
i have nero. the problem is that when i insert the CD-rom that i've burned nothing happens and when i click to open the file it just browses files rather than actually starting the program. all of the files are .TRS or .DSS so I'm unable to start the files like i would be able to a .exe file.

12. You can mount ISO images in a virtual drive and run them like programs.
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 09:24 PM by deucemagnet
I use Daemon Tools, but I'm sure there are other virtual drives out there.

http://filehippo.com/download_daemon_tools/

On edit: I guess that was kind of a vague answer. If you download and run daemon tools, it will set up a virtual DVD drive (it even appears on the "My Computer" page). With just a few clicks you can mount your ISO image in the virtual DVD drive and run it just like it was a real DVD in a real drive. There's no need to burn at all.

22. To run automatically, the cd needs a file called "autorun.inf"
This points to the executable program file on the cd, autostarting it. If this file isn't in the root directory on the cd, you need to browse the cd for .exe files. Double click the .exe file to run the program.
