then it would be OK for them, err. I mean us... Then it would be OK for "us" to walk around naked. Could furry naked humans survive outdoors in winter in Northern U.S.?

1. In evolutionary terms, the "trade-off" for fur is parasites.
We'd spend lots of time picking the buggies out of each other. Could be a good come-on line in a bar. "Hey baby, I notice you have a few plump lice ... Allow me."

I often think about how bare skin really makes a mammal "age." You think about a cat or a dog, sure, they usually look pretty much the same as a youth as they do as a mature adult. A dog might get a gray muzzle, but it's not like humans who generally look remarkably different from decade to decade.

2. With the right accessories, maybe
Fur is nice but think of the accessories!
You'd have to be careful not to have a handbag that's too heavy or it could leave wear off your hair/fur.
Boots would not be a good idea for a similar reason -- they'd mess up the fur on your legs.
