1. I had a Nehru jacket and matching pants.
In retrospect, they looked like pajamas.

2. Rarely if ever saw a Nehru jacket IRL
but they were all over TV. I remember the slave bracelet thing but based on the name alone my mother wouldn't have allowed them in the house.

10. There's a Zoot Suit shop not far from me, in Fullerton CA.
I can't imagine who they sell their product to, because I have yet to see a zoot-bedecked citizen anywhere in the local vicinity.

It could be the lamest-ever front for an illegal narcotics business, I suppose.

11. It's actually an old rennaissance/medievalish thing originally.
The middle finger was known as the 'slave' finger (no clue why), so a bracelet that had any part that connected to the finger became known as a 'slave bracelet'. No reason why it can't be worn on another finger though, like in the pic. :)

I made a couple of those back when I was doing chainmail. Obviously of a very different style than that one. I usually had a chain wrapped around the wrist, and a triangle of mail across the back of the hand, the tip connected to a chain around the finger, and the other two points connected to the chain around the wrist.

13. I think of slave bracelets as somehow sexy.
I liked the one Drew Barrymore was wearing in "Poison Ivy".

15. The Nehru jacket looks wierd with the matching pants.
But I think that it would look okay if they wore it with jeans, and took away those wierd-looking necklaces.
