MacBook Help! Have installed Parallels on my Macbook: Do I need to run firewall/anti-virus software
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 06:19 PM by Whoa_Nelly
Or by Parallels being a VM, there should have no problems with intrusion?

Thanks in advance! :hi:

(I already posted this in the Mac forum, but it may be sometime before anyone reads it and answers...)

1. Common sense dictates every OS installed on a computer would have such software installed.
Windows, Linux, OS/2, Amiga, OS X, you name it...

Nobody is immune; to think otherwise is foolhardy.

3. If your Norton
is up to date - install it. Is your Macbook one with an Intel chip or an older one?

If you install an old version of Norton on a new Macbook it can screw up your OS - it will crash it and then you will have to hope it restarts.

As for the Apple Help site- There are people there who, for no reason I can understand, just wait for questions to field - You will get an answer soon.

5. Well
if you have OSX running on a current Macbook - and your Norton program is up to date it should not be a problem.

I do not have any kind of Windows environment running on my computer - (Macbook Pro --- Intel Core 2 Duo) And so I don't know all there is to know about your problem. I do know that I once installed a Norton program on another Mac I had and the Norton program was older and I crashed my system.

I hope you find someone else who really knows about this problem.

Peace.
