I've had that happen a few times in my life

one in particular i remember when I was about 23, this blonde nurse, I know I blushed everytime I saw her and couldn't talk...

When I was your age, I was chasing this one girl to go out with me. Through the spring, through the summer, back into the school year.

One day she walked up to me in the school hallway and asked if I'd like to join her and another couple to go out. I froze and stammered:

"Maybe"

Her eyes became very large. She said "Maybe?". Then, repeating "Maybe!?", she wandered off down the hall. Leaving me there knowing I'd blown it. That falling sensation in the stomach and the body in general.

We went out for two years after that.

Now I'm twice that age and am slightly better at talking to people I'd like to meet. Slightly :)

I remember this time several years ago when I was working at a movie theater, this woman came through the line (I was working in the concession stand) who was very attractive- lookswise, pretty close to my "dream girl." I was (and still am) a really shy person, but for whatever reason I managed to get this rush of adrenaline or something where I was able to talk to her without getting too tongue-tied. I got slightly goofy, though; I remember one of the things I did was that I asked her if she needed any help carrying the stuff she'd bought to her seat, when she had only had a couple drinks and a bag of popcorn, and the kid she had with her looked to be three or four and old enough to carry his stuff! She seemed flattered at the suggestion, though (and could probably tell by how I was doting on her that I thought she was hot); so no harm done, I guess. I was mostly just impressed that I was able to speak, even if slightly goofy, as my usual tactic when it comes to good-looking women is to just avert my eyes and hope they don't notice me, since I'm usually too terrified to say anything to them!
