Stranger in a strange land

went to a party in my old neighborhood. I guess it doesn't matter that I still pay the lion's share of the mortgage, or that my son lives there, or any of that.

People looked at me like I'd come in from the desert and people who had been friendly and warm now seemed cold and indifferent.

So I took care of myself and left. My son is sick anyway and didn't feel like staying there.

Some things suck, and sometimes people just seem to suck.

when my ex and I were married, we were invited to parties and cook-outs. After I divorced, I stayed on the same street and the parties and cook-outs went on, but I wasn't invited any more.
