There's a job prospect there, but the pay's pretty piss poor.

Keep in mind I have student loans to pay off.

2. yeah, move a little east.
between downers grove and chicago.

chicago's inner ring suburbs offer excellent values.

easy access to downtown, half the travel time reverse commuting.

you could live in a town like oak park, which is pricey. think 650 - 800 for a studio apartment.

you could live in berwyn, parts of cicero (along cermak road corridor - which has el access at central ave. and late buses. plus it is a somewhat urban environment, so you're able to walk distances and the cityscape is built on a 1920s pedestrian scale).

it can be tough probably at times, these aren't necessarily the safest areas, but you can get a 2 bedroom apartment from between 600 - 800 and studios (the lowest i've paid was $315) from 450 - 550

28k a year, single, no kids, maybe some side business. you could live alright.

chicago proper areas are becoming increasingly cost prohibitive with rentals in popular north side areas starting at $700 for studios.

plus there are way too many yuppies and everything costs 20% more because these zipcodes contain high-income populations. think lincoln park, gold coast.

depends on what a person is comfortable living with.

i've gone into many towns without a job and have set up. if you have a job lined up, why not give it a shot?

The work would be in Downer's Grove.

It would be nice to live in a part of town where I don't have to worry abour morons coming in and stealing my stuff.

I have a car, however it's in the name of one of my relatives. (Which means not having to shell out for emissions inspections.)

edit to add: Goddamit, Now I have that fucking Emo Phillips bit stuck in my head.
