Who's gotta great Public/Community radio station?
I do www.kvmr.org from Nevada City CA. lefty news, BBC, and some of the best music programming ever. Grateful Dead show, jamband show, bluegrass shows, jazz shows,Big band shows etc.

I love it, and never ever listen to commercial radio. I love it, I can call in and hear my song the radio.

I so like www.wwoz.com from new Orleans. The best music programming of any station anywhere....

3. www.wemu.org
The fact that I work there has nothing to do with how great it is; a true community dual format station that's 30% news/talk (with a strong local component) and 70% music, the majority of which are locally hosted and produced jazz and blues programs. Check us out: www.wemu.org

We are located in Ypsilanti, MI, at Eastern Michigan University; primary market is Ann Arbor and environs.

The California World Music Festival (http://www.worldfest.net/) is definitely at the top of the list. I've been attending that one for about 11 years now.

The Celtic Music Festival is another one that I never miss. I've been to all but the second of these, so that's another decade or so of festivals.

The newest one they are sponsoring just started this year. http://www.americanrivermusicfestival.com/ I only made it out for one day, but it was really good. This one is close to where I live, so I hope it's able to take off!

I've also done the Bluegrass Festival a few times, but I've missed it the last few years.

I've also been to a number of concerts that they have sponsored at the Miners Foundry http://www.minersfoundry.org/. I've even played on that cool stage in the Great Hall there.

You?

16. I am hit and miss on the festies....
I tend more to hippie fests and they are always either right before or right after the Grass Valley events.I have been to them but not every year. I help put on shows at the Foundry, this weekdn is Blue Turlte Seduction and Izabella. Will be nice.

I love The Thurs night jamband show by Sam Gorsky (one of my best friends) and the programming all day Saturday. Bluegrass into rebel country. Makes my day totally.

8. KPFK 90.1 and KTSU 99.1 and that's about it in this sucky market
Edited on Mon Oct-29-07 12:07 PM by Richardo
KPFK is a Pacifica station - very lefty. Plus, excellent music programming including a LOT of Texas-based blues, rock, etc
KTSU is the campus station from predominantly black Texas State University. Primary programming is jazz, with soul on Fridays and Gospel on Sundays. Talk includes Tavis Smiley. An excellent station.

The NPR station is KUHF and it's OK, but I wish they'd include more NPR talk instead of all-classical programming.
They program ATC and Morning Edition, and Car Talk and Wait Wait on the weekends, but I'd like Terry Gross, Diane Rheem, etc also.

GREAT alternative music station: "The Only Station That Matters". And a bonus, for old pharts like me, an '80s show every Wednesday morning from 7 to 9 a.m.
