I saw a pharmacy from Mexico on the net. I know we cannot order meds from |
|
Canada anymore, but does anybody know anything about meds from Mexico.
I'm interested to know, because if I lose my job and health insurance I would like to be able to afford at least my main med. I have seizures that are 100% controlled by Lamictical, but it cost $700 A MONTH with out health insurance.
I need other meds - like synthroid - etc. but I will not be able to afford that even from Mexico. But I was wondering about all this. Any info will be appreciated.

Nevermind, I saw your profile. YOu're in NC.
The only thing about drugs from Mexico is that I would trust medicine from Canada. I would not trust drugs from Mexico.

|
by Glaxo or anyone else, are any different than the ones for sale in the US or canada?
You have no basis in fact for that position.

2. I don't know that they have cut off purchases from Canada... |
|
with a legal prescription. While it is frowned upon by FDA, unless you are trying to get Controlled Drugs (i.e., narcotics) I believe you still can...

3. I have elderly friends here in Illinois who visit their daughter in AZ |
|
every summer. While there, they stock up on meds from Mexico. They are all prescription meds, and unsurprisingly cheap.
They have never had a problem. Doesn't Mexico get alot of their prescription drugs from the USA also?
Does anyone else here know people who go to Mexico for meds?

4. laws for importing drugs from Mexico are the same as laws from Canada |
|
The FDA's story is they can't certify the safety of any drugs sold outside the US.
The danger with any internet pharmacy is they could be selling fake drugs. I would be more suspicious of one in Mexico than one in Canada, but in either case you should do some research into how reputable the pharmacy is. That goes for ordering from internet pharmacies based in the US too.

5. Crossing the border for LEGAL drugs rivals the other kind. |

It's a tiny but profitable arm of the tourist industry here in AZ. The tour operators barely hide the real reason they are stopping in Nogales, which otherwise has little to offer (unless you are decorating).
Another fact conveniently ignored by your administration.
Edit: It's actually a bit sad to witness it. When I go to Nogales, I load up on pottery, textiles, all kinds of good stuff. The elderly bring back huge bags full of Rx meds. These are the ones who are healthy and economically able to make the trip--it is quite sad to see in many ways.

6. My neighbor ordered Dyazide from Mexico |
|
it came in the manufacturer's own unit dose packaging. It was also subject to US Customs. It was fairly cheap, but then it's an old drug and is cheap anyway.

7. I wouldn't............... |

MANY of those Mexican pharmacies are nothing but websites. They promise lower prescription prices when in actuality, there IS NO pharmacy at all. Many have been the subject of fraud investigations, especially one called, 'The National Pharmacy Group'. These 'pharmacies' exist only electronically and are meant to do nothing more than steal your money. As pricey as prescriptions are, you're better off buying from someone you know and trust rather than some electronic hucksters.

8. The meds in mexico are the same as in the USA but at 1/10th the price. |
|
Unlike the USA, Mexico doesn't regulate their medicinal drug trade. Their pharmacies are clean, open, well tended; their pharmacists are REALLY well educated, informed and up to date on the latest treatments.
Keep in mind that border towns infected by USA don't count so much as Mexico.
If you're going to take a trip to buy medications, go to a nice southern resort town for a long weekend. Cancun, Acapulco, or other places where Canadian snowbirds go for the winter.

10. From what I have heard you must do this in person instead of |
|
relying on it arriving by mail in which case you may get defrauded and they may use your credit card illegally for other purchases.

11. Research the Source, then Buy |
|
I made many trips to Tijuana when I lived in Cali, and the drugs over there are fine. Trust me on that. The only thing is, you need to make sure you have a reliable source for the distance thing. You might want to buy a membership in drugbuyers.com so you can peruse their message boards and pharmacy reviews to make sure you find a good one who won't rip you off. Screw big pharma. If you do have a script, you can check the Canadian pharmacy websites. But the Mexican pharmacies are usually where you'll find the best deals. Best of luck! :)

|
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 10:26 AM by SoCalDem
and then send it to them..
My friend gets her 800 MG motrin there for about $6 for a HUGE bottle.. no prescription necessary..
In Mexico you do not need a prescription.. I don't know about Canada..
So find somebody who is going to Mexico, and give them your list.. When they get back to the US, they can send it to you..
