Doing my taxes and I have a question
We're retired and don't have a lot of income. We have no children so we didn't get that little "loan" from the government this year. And we're certainly not in that upper tax braket that got the breaks.

My question - or maybe an observation - is that the withholding went down during the year. Now it seems I owe more than I did before. Was the reduction in withholding a sham like the IRS checks this summer? Did the withholding go down but the taxes owed stayed the same?

Also, it seems unfair that we can't deduct federal income tax from our income tax.

Ok, income tax rant over now. :)

4. I'll try harder next time
Usually my best rants are directed toward the current White House.

2. I saved a whopping
36 bucks with the tax cuts. I better not spend that all in one place now! Of course, taxes were raised in my state, fees for everything raised, and my sister is near bankrupt so I am helping her and her kids out. Wow, thanks GW.

3. yes, I saw no decrease in my taxes, in fact
I paid over 1K more than I did the previous year, even though I made the same money.
So I've been saying: tax break? what tax break? I see nothing but increases. :-(
