Which celebrity/public figure are you most disappointed in?
The previous three years have provided me with feelings of considerable disillusionment and sadness when I look at celebrities and public figures whom I used to admire and find that they are, or are in the process of, defecting to the right wing and/or endorsing Bush’s platform.

And I’m not talking about Ah-nuld, Toby Keith and Britney Spears either –you expect that kind of patriotic jingoism mixed in with RW claptrap from them. I’m talking more of celebrities and public figures that you previously had a high opinion of and have been let down. And Loretta Lynn –well, I never liked her music in the first place.

For me, I know it’s Susan Estrich. I always kind of liked her and I know she’s not as right wing or as crazy as some of the people in her genre –for example she opposed the second Gulf War, albeit after engaging in a considerable amount of liberal bashing-but it still saddens me that she’s sold out to FAUX and that she engages in right wing stereotypes of liberals to prove her point –sometimes to the extent that she comes close to endorsing Bush. I’ve admired her for a long time and expected much better of her.

I’m also disappointed in Dennis Miller –he provides a prime example of how, when the going gets tough, the opportunistic get going. And Jay Leno –his recent stumping for Ah-nuld and his continuous jokes about Clinton/Dean and whoever else have left me very disillusioned. And to think that, for some reason which I’ll never understand, I once preferred him to Letterman. Now it’s the opposite –and thank goodness Leno’s only screened on cable TV and I don’t see him very often except when I visited the US (whereas Australian TV screens Letterman every night). At least Letterman has had the decency and integrity to keep his open-mindedness when everyone was losing theirs.

Who are you disappointed in?

1. Peter Jennings
To say that the Bush / deserter claim is factually without merit just shows that he has not been doing his job.

2. None of them
I'm disappointed when my friends or family let me down because I expect certain things from them. I don't know any famous person well enough to be disappointed in them.

4. Celebrities come and go so quickly, I don't keep up
and have no idea who most of them are, other than a passing face on the late night talk shows.

5. None...
I really don't pin any expectations or hopes on celebrities. Their politics are unimportant to me.
