I still miss Stevie Ray Vaughan
That man gave us some of the greatest music the world has ever heard. And he physically helped me kick an addiction I had. So thank you SRV and may you always Rest in Peace. The world has never ever been the same since some sort of fucked up deity decided you needed to leave us.
I am bringing this up because our local PBS station is in fund raising time and showing SRV concert clips. I love it. Please give to PBS if you can.

2. Same here.... when I was drying out from a 13 year love affair with cocaine
I drank a LOT of sweet tea and spent hour after hour listening to Stevie Ray. I was fortunate enough to get to see him in concert at the Sunrise Musical Theater in Ft. Lauderdale in 1987, with the Neville Brothers opening for him. It's by far the best concert I've ever seen, and I've seen many of them, including Bob Seger, AC-DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Stones, The Eagles, Foreigner, Sammy Hagar, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, etc, etc, etc.....

Stevie Ray Vaughn revived the blues scene in the 80's...

Have you heard Jimmie Lee's tribute, "Six Strings Down"?

3. Saw him once, on his first "sober" tour...4 piece with Reece Wynans on keyboard
I don't know why, but went to the show with a little bit of an attitude of "OK, I know its the great Stevie Ray Vaughan, but bottom line is, its just another white guy playing the blues--so , go ahead sucker, show me something".... By about 90 seconds into the first song , it was pretty damn obvious that he WAS indeed, the GREAT Stevie Ray Vaughan. I'm so grateful that I got to see him play. By the way the place where he did his last show, in East Troy Wisconsin, was the site of a music and art camp I attended in the summer of 1967. When I saw aerial views of the crash site on the news, I saw a lake in the background that I'm sure was the one I used to go swimming and canoeing in, and it was a little eerie thinking he perished in a place that holds such happy memories for me......... Thank you Stevie, for sharing your magnificent talent with us...And thank you for helping save Bluzman57's life.

6. Some of the best music EVER.....I went to High School with his drummer
in Double Trouble (Chris Layton - Ray H.S. -Corpus Christi, Tx.). Back in the 80's I ended up being the Reservations Manager at the nicest hotel in South Tx. (The Hersey). Steve Ray and Double Trouble were coming to play and they were staying at the hotel. Chris Layton's mom called to ask if they'd checked in yet. They hadn't arrived yet so she & I had the nicest chat (really sweet lady). What an incredible sound he's left the world. He was at the top of his game....
