A BOTTLE shop attendant prevented an armed robbery west of Brisbane overnight after throwing two bottles of scotch at a would-be thief.

The attendant at Flavey's Irish Heart Hotel in Goodna was confronted by a man armed with a knife just before 10pm (AEST).

The man demanded money and threatened the attendant with the knife.

The attendant pushed advertising signs into the offender and threw two bottles of scotch at him, forcing him to flee the scene empty handed.
