At the risk of sounding pollyannaish, I've realized that my life is pretty ok. I have a job, a great family, the best life partner I could ever dare hope to dream of. My health.

because no matter how bad you think your life is, there's always someone who has it worse. Might as well be thankful for what you have than to spend all your time stressing about what you don't.

2. No, that's depressing

It gives the idea that the only way is down. Depressing and, mostly, untrue. So, your ability to make money has diminished? That's bad, but there are lots of good things that happen in life which are not money-related.
