(Hypothetical) If you give your kid a beer |
|
after telling him he shouldn't drink beer,
1) do you have a right to be surprised if he drinks the beer?
2) can you are claim you are not at least partially responsible for the kids actions because you gave him the beer?

3. I plan to teach my children the fact that some laws are wrong |

and the most respect you owe those is "don't get caught".
And that I believe it's okay to drink, say, half a can of beer if supervised by a parent (we'll share one at dinner) after you're, say, 15 (line has to be drawn somewhere).
Also, if I find she's been drinking without me knowing, I'll kick her ass.
Just for the record: Dad let me "drink" a bit of foam of his beer cup when I was... I think I was 6 or so. My brain is fully functional, and I was ALWAYS first of class.

4. That happened in this documentary I watched "Small Town Ecstasy" |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:19 AM by LynneSin
This divorced father of 4 children went through a midlife crisis and starting going to Raves and taking Ecstasy with his 18 year old son.
Well the father & son had a house party and the father's 2 youngest kids (13 & 15) were at the party. The kids wanted to try E but dad "didn't" want them too verbally, but left a $20 on the table so the kids could buy it anyways.
Mother found out about it and had Dad's custody changed to supervised only.
Go figure

6. Reminds me of a bible arg we run |

Refering to Adam and Eve and original sin. Lets say a mother tells her baby that poison is dangerous and leaves a bottle of poison on the floor in the kitchen. She then leaves her baby in the kitchen with the poison and leaves the room. Should she be suprised when the baby drinks the poison and dies and should she be held responsible?
Same story here. The father is supposed to be the guardian/supervisor. His actions amount to Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge. You really shouldn't do drugs but here is 20 bucks. He is responsible. He is a bad guardian. He should have his custody rights changed.

7. I gave my 15-year-old a sip of Czechvar last night and |
|
he said that it gave him something to look forward to at age 21 ! This is the original Budweiser but they don't allow use of the name here. It's so good I had to share. But he'd better start saving now - $10 a six-pack.

where the relatives served alcohol to everyone over 14, following Old Country customs.
None of us ever had a drinking problem. Anything you can do in front of your elderly relatives has no value as a form of rebellion.
