Since you won't support my chosen candidate... |
|
in the general election, I will not support yours. It doesn't matter who gets the majority of delagates, since your support is conditional as to your candidate winning, so is mine. Any candidate whose followers state they will not support my choice has lost my support. Any candidate whose followers state they will support my choice will gain my support.

I am an Edwards supporter. If he doesn't win I will support your candidate if he is a Democrat, except for Lyndon Larouch (who I don't believe to be a Democrat).

I support Kerry, but whoever wins the nomination, whether it is Kerry, Dean, Edwards, Clark, or by some near-miracle, Kucinich or Sharpton, I will support in the GE.
Any of them is a LOT better than Bush.

2. So, does that mean you're voting for no one? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 03:03 PM by boxster
Because, as far as I can tell, at least one supporter of every candidate left has said that he or she would vote only for his or her candidate.
Me, I'll vote for the nominee whoever it is, in spite of the actions of the supporters of other candidates.
Edit: typos

I will support your candidate in the "general" election as long as your candidate is a Democrat. Let us huff and puff against each other in the primaries but when it comes to the General Election, well, lets all get behind the General.
Caveat: I can support all but one Democratic candidate. Al Sharpton does not have my respect nor would he ever receive my vote. He is a charlatan and now he is a pawn of GOP activists. He has no moral compass, he has no integrity. He, like rush limbaugh could not earn an honest living. Flame me if you must but on the issue of sharpton I am flameproof.

My chosen candidate is not set in stone; I will be voting Democratic in the General Election; the primary isn't until March, so it depends on who's still viable.
I read a great article in the San Diego Union/Tribune editorials section about how the Democrats have 3 great candidates and if they don't nominate 2 of the three they're fools... (Pres and VP).
I'm just sick of the 'my way or the highway', 'nobody but (fill in the blank)', 'That guy is a pretend liberal while my guy is the only real deal' rhetoric in the Primaries forum. It occurred to me that if all of the people on here aren't thinking with thier heads. So, I posted this mini-rant here in the 'amusement post' forum to vent and point out the absurdity. We are making enemies of each other when we should all be on the same side.
The 'anybody but Bush or (blank)' crowd disturbs me. I took one of those wonderful 'match your position to your candidate' polls a month or so ago; I was surprised at how high Lieberman (75%!) scored with me; even more surprised that Kicinich(sp) and Kerry BOTH scored 100% (I had thought that niether would match me that well), while Bush scored 11%... and that only because even a stopped clock is right twice a day. So, if even the Democrat I like least scored 7 times as high as Bush, it seems to me that must be true of all the people on this board; none should have Bush in higher than 20%; none should have the worst Democrat lower than 60%... so how can anyone say 'only <blank> is better than Bush'?
Gee, this rant is so long, maybe I should submit it to the front page... or add it to my next 'From the Deck' post...

13. I agree on the VP thing |
|
one of the top guys that doesn't win the top nomination should be in for VP. They're all strong enough to pull it off.

14. Don;t blame a candidate for what some of their supporters do. |
|
If a candidate says now that they will not support the nominee then you can say that you will not support that person.
Dean has said repeatedly he is supporting the nominee no matter who that ends up being. Just because some on here disagree shouldn't mean you won't support him.
This is true for the others too. They have all pledged to support the nominee.
