Preteens rape girl in elementary school bathroom

A 10-year-old girl was raped Wednesday by two preteen boys in a bathroom at Royal Palm Elementary in Lauderhill.

According to Broward Sheriff's spokesman Jim Leljedal, the boys, 11 and 12 years old, confessed to a BSO sex crimes detective, saying they assaulted the girl around 9 a.m.

The boys are being held at a Broward Juvenile Intervention Facility awaiting a court appearance. They are charged with sexual assault and lewd or lascivious exhibition, he said. ''They pushed her into a bathroom, and exposed themselves ,'' said Leljedal.

According to a BSO report, the boys then ordered her to perform a sex act and raped her.
