On January 28 2003 Bush's attorney general, JOhn Ashcroft, announced that he would cover the naked breast of a famous Justice Department statue. The art deco piecek known as "Minnie Lou", was erected in the 1930's as a symbol of justice and was often featured in photographs of Ashcroft and his ancestors. (one famous picture featured R Reagan's atty gen, Edmund Meese, announcing the results of his report on pornography before the statue's naked chest). Ashcroft's curtains, ordered during a serious recession, were reported to have cost $8000.00
