2. See? I knew I was in good company!
I did the same, dripping with sarcasm.

Shame on me.

4. Did you apologize to the person?
I didn't. Shame on me.

So maybe the company's not all that great.

5. Nope. It didn't seem all that nasty to me.
To the effect that said person lacked a sense of humor.

7. I've had one.......
and I believe the person deserved it. The mods didn't believe it, but it made me feel better. Hey, they have guidelines that they must follow, if they agree or not. All in all they do a great job and I harbor no ill will toward them.

8. Me either. I did insult the person, I just was so caught up
(gee, guess what forum?) I didn't even realize it at the time.

When I read my post on the warning, I felt VERY bad.

3. I got called down twice when I first became a DU - I was as embarrassed as
if they had come to my own home and fussed at me. That also cured me.

I like to change my signature a lot - so the last time, I asked the mods before I started using it. (It was not acceptable) but I had rather find out that way than to be "called down".

6. That's how I feel; people who know me in person think
I'm a real sweetie (stop laughing; I'm serious!).

I tend to be very sarcastic, though; as surprising as that may be to my fello DUers!

9. Yeah same (got mod message when I first joined)
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 10:19 AM by Kamika
Got wiped though :D

Just let it go.

Just want to add something though.. I liked how DU was abit more friendly when I joined, when I joined I got a message from a moderator to change my sig line.. I did and got no warning or anything.

Today I would probably have been banned since I was a newbie and everything.

I realize moderators with all these ppl has to be tougher, just wish they didn't have to be so hard :D

10. I will never again post without a thesaurus at my fingertips.
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 11:02 AM by Cuban_Liberal
I used the term 'ethical cripple' in reference to a candidate; even though I did and still do believe that to be true, it apparently 'crosses' the civilty line to say plainly what you believe. I will never again post without a thesaurus close at hand *sigh*

11. About a year ago I got a warning...
I had used the term, "fight the good fight", and it was taken out of context, because of the situation at the time. I guess a mod was thinking I was talking about actually fighting the admin physically or some such.

Earlier this week, I started a thread asking if it was just me, or were there a lot of 'lockings' going on lately; it lasted two minutes before it was locked. I went to "Ask the Admin's", and Skinner was decent enough to answer my query, although, after checking, I couldn't see where I had broken any rule.

I will respect the owners of the Board however. DU is far too important for me to quibble over some perceived slight. Mod's and Admin's have enough problems dealing with disruptors, they sure don't need to add me to their problems.

O8)

15. I'm amazed this thread has lasted as long as it has.
DU has become Janet Jacksonized. Knee-Jerk to the extreme as an attempt to keep this place from blowing up.

16. I asked somebody
"What are you smoking?" - as a turn of phrase, nothing more, in response to some outlandish statement.

The mods let me off on appeal, which was nice, but I was surprised it was considered a particularly uncivil or personal attack. But it's kept me on my toes since then, so I guess the system's working.

Never again will I go into the Israel/Palestine forum drunk and start channeling Hunter Thompson. :D

Well, not for a while yet, anyway...

The system works well enough, but sometimes the mods are slow to recognize sarcasm, which is admittedly difficult in a text-only environment.
