...they're based on.
Such as "Slaughterhouse 5", which is every bit as good as the book.
Catch-22 is a more enjoyable movie than book, IMO. Heller's writing style is too schitzy for my tastes. Plus, the casting in the movie is amazing. Best. Casting. Ever!

I thought it was terrible. One of my favorite books turned into a really crappy film. Nichols didn't begin to do it justice. The one bright spot was Alan Arkin as Yossarian. I love Arkin, but even he seemed a bit lost in that horrible screenplay.
I'll take the book anyday. I've never heard anyone say anything good about the movie before. I'm amazed that anyone would.
What is schitzy, BTW?
