The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 1/11/08 (warning: very graphic language)
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 02:52 PM by BlueIris
"The Rapist's Daughter"

Even with your nanny
pushing you
back and forth
in your pram, I watch you
from the penthouse window
overlooking the park.

After I touched your mother,
after I put enough of myself
inside her
to make you more than an idea
I went out
and hated with all my heart;

I wanted to get rid of this
hot rage between my legs
but each pair of pleading
eyes just fueled the fire.

It can happen to any man.
And so I keep watching.
This nine millimeter I rub
like my hard dick is for you

when you get
to that certain age
when fatherly feeling
slips into desire

this gun will be
worth more to you
than I am.

1. Yikes!
That is one upsetting poem...

Very sick, IMHO...

What kind of person would write something like this?

Too much...

2. I think the author was trying to make people think about the sick minds of rapists
in a serious way. Maybe that should have been "very graphic language..."

3. I see your point...
About what intentions the author had, I mean...

I knew it was going to be graphic...

Even if you'd said "very graphic" I would still have read it...

That's a tough one Blue

Unfortunately it reminds me of too many current events. I wish it didn't.

7. Wow
Just wow...

Painful - I wouldn't say beautiful, but haunting and striking.

Like a red hot lead poker to the soul

10. No matter how many times you kick it yourself
it's still entirely inappropriate for DU.

14. You'd be hard-pressed to find
a more ardent defender of free speech than I am.... but this is suck poetry and I'm amazed it's allowed here.

18. Instead of being a schmuck
try Alert, Ignore, or Hide thread...

Then get help for whatever button this poem pushes.

Otherwise you're just being a dick.

22. Like the Beatles said --
Happiness is a warm gun.
Bang.Bang. Shoot.Shoot.

Art, like humor is subjective and not always meant to elicit "oh, how beautiful." Not everything in life is beautiful and art reflects that, as it should.

23. Wow. That is definitely intense.
I know that when the woman knows who the rapist is he's certainly going to know if she got pregnant and had a child. Still, the idea of a rapist knowing anything, feeling anything, planning anything is very disturbing. :(

This is amazingly well written. Ms. Anderson but a lot of thougth into the style and grace of this poem, and made it very successfully creepy. Not just the subject, but also the execution.

Wow.
