Holy carp! My CPU is running around 70 degrees C under load! Question for the computer geeks? |
|
Ok, I know I am going to have to go for more efficient cooling. As a matter of fact I ordered a water cooling kit for the cpu this morning. I am wondering if I should also water cool the video cards. They throw off a LOT of heat. Do you think I could use the same cooling system for both video cards & the cpu or should I cool them separately?

Make sure you have a nice channel for air to pass over the CPU. Clean the fans, bind all the cables and get them out of the way. If you're running a dual-SLI setup (video card*s*) separate cooling is kind of important, IMO.
But the foundation has got to be having a good air channel inside the box. Get a can of compressed air and make sure your heat sinks are dust free, while you're at it.

2. Thanks democracyindanger. I think I found the culprit. |

I was poking around some computer forums & found out my power supply wasn't adequate for running dual video cards of the type I own. It said that under supply of power will cause overheating.
