Favorite instrumental television theme song.
My very favorite instrumental theme music was "L.A. Law", by the great Mike Post. I liked "L.A. Law" anyway...but I had to catch it at the very beginning...to hear that great music with the opening credits.

Yours?

Terry

3. Twin Peaks...
...if you allow for some wordless choral singing.
The original Twilight Zone, also.

Mike Post's work really is good. Didn't he have a 'hit' with the Hill Street Blues theme?

7. The theme from "Angel"
That violin/cello (unsure which it is) is trippy and creepy. It's a kick-ass theme, nonetheless.

9. The A-Team...
...with its squelching strings, tight military snares, gunshot samples, 80's crunch guitar, tank samples, light use of cymbals, and of course, more gunshot samples.

18. Agreed. It was great -- set just the right tone for the show.
My favorite was Roseanne, but in the last season (or possibly, the last two, I don't remember) they added lyrics. :wtf:

"Having an Average Weekend" by the amazing Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet... they did all the great incidental music and put out four great albums. They're sorely missed... one of them passed away a couple years ago.

Interesting, the band DID manage to cash in last year with their song "Zombie Compromise" being used in Taco Bell commercials for about a year.

Much like the X-Files theme it succeeds in setting the mood perfectly for the show to follow.
