Hey Deep Space Nine fans. |
|
I was wondering what your favorite episode of the show was. For Me I have two:
1. In the Pale Moonlight-Sisko tricks the Romulans into the war against the Dominion.
2. The Way of the Warrior-Worf joins the crew as relations with the Klingons erode.

I think that was the title of the episode where Sisko and Co. appear as Sci-Fi writers and assorted denizens of New York in the 1950s.
Also the one where Sisko and Jake pilot the solar-sailing craft from Bajor to Cardassia-- the whole family dynamic and interaction was great.
The Visitor-- Sisko is killed in an accident and keeps popping up in Jake's life as Jake grows old.
Duet- an early season episode where a guilt-wracked Cardassian pretends to be a war criminal so that he can be "punished"-- powerful in the same way as "Man in the Glass Booth".
And the whole war-arc of the last season was incredible.
What a great show! This might be heresy, but DS9 is the best Star Trek spinoff IMHO.

DS9 was (and still is) the best Star Trek spin-off. If for no other reason that was different enough from the original to be it's own show. And also because since chose to mainly focus on the characters (and not the outside alien of the week); it formed relationships between those not seen since original show.
If Paramount was smart they'd start fresh with movies based on DS9. Or even a shorted lived mini-series focusing on the events chronicled in books like Avatar 1&2 and Rising Son.

In my mind DS9 is neck in neck in terms of quality with TNG. It deserved a lot more respect than it got. With the way Nemesis was wrapped up, I think it is safe to say that TNG has now completely run its course. Berman has been villified and rightly so on many counts. But he and the other creative forces on DS9, like Michael Piller and Ira Steven Behr were extremely creative and pushed the envelope and created a wonderful series from it.

DS9 WAS THE best trek, TNG was great aswell, but DS9 had SUCh good character developement, great war archs.. who can forget the first 6 episodes of season 6??
But You have to admit if you didn't see ds9 frmo start to finish it would probably suck, that's why I think you can't make movies out of it..
But miniseries wouldnt hurt.
I'm currently reading the relaunch I'm at the end of left hand of destiny part2
Then I have
lifes of dax avatar 1&2 section31 : abyss gateways 4&7 Mission Gamma 1-4 Rising Son Unity (which will come out in pocket in December)
These books are just as good as the series if not better, and a BILLION schmillion times better then what b&b can come up with.
Oh and the only trek episode ever which made me cry was when O'brians lost Molly in season 7 ?

Comedy.. "The Mag. Ferengi" Tear Jerk... "The Visitor" Finer points of morality "Enter Arma Enim Silent Leges"
DS9 is the best series of Trek, I like the Cardassian politics and story line of them. Remind me of 1984 alot.

3. The first 4 eps of season 4 and season 7 |
|
"Way of the Warrior" "The Visitor" "Little Green Men" (for campy comedy with yet another dumb time travel excuse but I went with it anyway) "Our Man Bashir" (hilarious parody of James Bond, with Sisko playing the villain waaaaaaaay over the top, which I loved to pieces...)
There was also a Dax episode where she frenchied a Trill associate (also a female, hint hint) complete with glistening drool between their lips in camerashot. (now if it were two MEN, then Trek really would be controversial, even moreso than the 1968 "interracial" kiss because, in terms of homosexuality, two women are far more to be accepted than two men... forgive me, but we're all human, just different aspects of the SAME race, so that's why I don't like the term "interracial"; the term makes it sound like two different races, which it isn't.)
I also liked season 7, though the utterly pathetic baseball game episode with the utterly uncharacteristic Vulcans who surely must have been Romulans trying to act like Vulcans and failing miserably because of the smugness and other emotions they were exhibiting was atrocious, despite the amount of money they had used for the holodeck effects. :eyes: The "World War II in space" subplot was nicely handled too, and the series ending was not your typical happy-hollywood rubbish.

The Visitor - Where Jake lives his life trying to correct the accident that "killed" Sisko
Far Beyond The Stars - Sisko has a prophet flashback where he believes he's a science-fiction writer in unenlightened Earth of the 1950's
Past Tense - Sisko, Bashir, and Dax are sent to early 21st century Earth where they must correct history by making it (I had wished for a better ending)
In The Pale Moonlight, The Die Is Cast, Rapture....
SOOO many :hi:

6. DS9 had a lot of good episodes |
|
And a lot of absolutely horrid ones. I think TNG was the best for consistent quality-- but I'll admit I liked DS9 better.

I can't remember my Favorite episode.. it is really way too hard to decide..
Either the last episode of season2 because it was SO damn cool when the galaxy ship(not enterprise) met the Jem'hadar.
Or maybe way of the warrior...
The two parter on earth is VERY good aswell..
There were so many good episodes
Pale moonlight was great too
"It's a Faaaaaaaaaaaakeeee"
Overall season5 was best

11. I Loved the one where they go back to Kirk's Enterprise |
|
That was a really fun ep..Overall even though DS9 did have some clunkers i thought it was one of the best Star Trek shows..Wish they would replay it and that Paramount would get on the ball and create a GOOD show..they dont all have to be about the enterprise and being lost in space..What i kinda think would be interesting is a remake of the first one with new people playing spock, kirk, bones..but that might be blasphamy and they die hards would set phasers to KILL
