Poll question: Saturday Night Live is much more hilarious without Will Ferrell. |

The concept was a bit humourous. But they kept telling the SAME STUPID FUCKING JOKE over and over and over again. Thats what SNL is now. Every bit just rehashes the same old crap and they PRETEND like it SHOULD be funny.
I think SNL was moderately funny until Al Franken left. Now they totally suck!!!!!
Watch Chapelles Show for some good (mildly offensive) sketch comedy. Seriously, I don't think comedy CAN be funny without being a little offensive to SOMEONE!!!! ;-)

4. Ferrell was a great Bush. SNL stinks now. |
|
Will Ferrell totally captured the Bush "deer in the headlights" look. Now, Darrell Hammond is the only one worth watching (he is really good). Their guest hosts suck. SNL is worse now than their previous low point, late 80s - early 90s.

Christopher Walken was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. The bit where the census lady comes to his apartment had me in tears I was laughing so hard.
Plus I think it could always use a bit more cowbell.

16. Christopher Walken excepted. |

The Continental. Champagnya? Otherwise, guest hosts as shills for their latest pics, like Leno. Still, if you like Christopher Walken, I will withdraw my protest, simply to support you in liking him.

Saturday Night Live hasn't been funny for the past 20 years.
Well, there was a brief rennaisance in the Dana Carvey, Mike Meyers years. Then it sucked again.

7. Saturday Night Live will be funny again |
|
when two things happen...
1. Cut the cast size in half. 2. Never, ever again do a recurring character sketch.
It's mostly terrible right now. That Wizard of Oz sketch last night was pretty damn funny though.

8. Hell, "Celebrity Jeopardy" alone was one of the funniest bits on "SNL" |

I miss Will Ferrell.

11. Other than Weekend Update, SNL is pretty lame but... |
|
Last night's show was pretty good. The opening bit with Hammond as koppel was great! If you weren't watching, you'd swear it was Koppel!

13. I feel there have been SOME bright lights... |
|
on the way.
Agreed, SNL's funny quotient has gone down since the departure of the "Not Ready For Primetime Players", but there have been some very bright spots since then. Funny alums such as Christopher Guest came out of what was known as the "worst" SNL cast ever, now he's making hilarious films. More recently, Will Farrel, Chris Rock, Cheri Oteri and Tim Meadows elevated the show to beyond the tolerance point, back to where I thought the show was almost funny again.
Unfortunately, the problem of SNL can be attributed to a few recurring dynamics. Generally crappy talent (i.e.: Chris Kattan, Jimmy Fallon (Oooo... I hate that guy) and Chris Parnell)who DO stay and, quality people leaving to do pursue they're own careers (i.e.: Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal). And probably the biggest problem: Lorne Michaels. Maybe a few of the Canadian Du'ers will remember what he did to the Kids in the Hall.

15. Last night was suprisingly good |
|
Some sketches blew (of course) but it was good.
Also, Mad TV was suprisingly political, and very anti-Bush.
