COuld I get a small favour from the gay community? |
|
Could you guys make dressing like hics "en vouge" in the gay community.
Ya see yesterday I was covering the local hunting clubs yearly trophy awards. And, as usual, I was wearing a sportcoat and a tie...because I like to keep professional.
Well all these people kept giving me weird looks. ANd another local reporter said, "You didn't have to dress up for this." I said "I always dress formal for work, I think it reflects well on the paper." He says "No it doesn't and kinda walks off." Well FUCK HIM. I think I shan't be takng advice from a guy who's work in the same small hic town for 20 years.
Anyway, long story short....many of these people think dressing nice means you're a "fag". So if you could could dress like them, maybe they'll change and I won't get all this hassle.
thanking you in advance - HEyHEY

1. Tell them this, HEyHEY: |
|
Ask them how well they think it reflects on themselves that they are so provincial, so small-minded, as to think that dressing well has anything to do with one's affectional orientation.
They're such obvious morans, they won't know what the hell you're talking about and they'll shut up.

3. Yeah but sportcoats aren't out withno tie |
|
I wear that often too. I think it's anyone without sweatpants and an untucked Budwiser shirt that they detest.

you keep the sport coat but wear camo gear underneath? That'd be a nice compromise, lol.

5. The Fab 5 would be proud of you, HEyHEY... |
|
*sigh* How ridiculously provincial of those jerks.
Be smug, guy. You're doing exactly the right thing. In your profession, you're meeting people (and unfortunately, louts like the people at the trophy awards). By dressing nice and professionally, you're giving other people the best impression. That you ARE a professional and you are good in your work.
They're the problem...certainly not you.
KUDOS to you, guy.

what would have been wrong with a nice turtle neck and some chinos. You would still look neat and pressed (ie professional) but fit in better. Of course, I am gay myself so that may still be faggy, but what the hey.

At least when someone gets shot by a drunk buddy on a hunting trip...these people wear a suit to the funeral.
They'd never touch chinos or a turtleneck.

9. Well, hell, since it's a fellow reporter |
|
Who cares?
he might very well be bitter.
Not necessarily, but a possibility.
I think it's great that you want to look professional when doing your job. One needs to dress the role according to community, but I'd still say that if you are there to report, you need to stand out a serious person.
It is indeed sad, though, that a community can consider a well-dressed man as someone quite odd, possibly even a homersexual.

12. Has nothing to do with being gay |
|
Personally, I like to look good. I always wear a pressed shirt and tie to work...even though it isn't required, I wear suits when going to meetings, and I often find myself at odds with co-workers over it. They simply don't understand why I do it, and then get upset when I invariably get chosen to represent our department (and get the corresponding pay bonuses). How we dress says a lot about how we see ourselves and our outlook on life.
Oh, I also once won a $70,000 6-month consulting gig (back when I freelanced) simply because of the way I dressed. When I did my follow-up with the client after the project was complete, I asked why I'd won the job over the 150+ other equally qualified applicants. The clients response was this: "You walked in wearing a suit and addressed me as 'sir'. They walked in wearing bluejeans and addressed me as 'hey man'". Something to think about :)

multi-patched jeans and grungy t-shirts . . . I can't remember the last time I wore a suit . . . or a sport coat . . . or even a tie, for that matter . . . probably why my social life sucks . . .
