Need Tech Help Please - Keyboard Trouble |
|
I just reinstalled Windows XP on my computer, and I am coming up against a problem that I had when I first bought the computer. The company (SPM Micro) is based in Quebec, so their primary language is French. Hence, my keyboard gives me this (è or È) when I try to use quotation and punctuation marks. It is a pretty lousy keyboard, so should I just get another one, or does anybody have any ideas on fixing it. I had a one year warranty, so I doubt the company will give me any tech help. Cheers in advance.

1. Check the language/locale setting |
|
Control panel -> Keyboard. Should be in there. Change the setting from French, Klingon, Dalekese, or whatever language and put in English and Windows should then treat the keyboard as if it's English. You can use multiple locales and switch between them via a hotkey too...
Good luck!

3. Try changing the Regional settings. |
|
Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options.
Change it to English (United States).
I would hope that would work!

4. Afraid not. My keyboard appears to be a Quebec Nationalist! |
|
About time I changed it, anyhow.

5. The only other thing I could think of would be to obtain a new driver, but |
|
SPM's web site has nothing. Occasionally, Windows Update will provide updated drivers for stuff like keyboards. You could try that if you haven't already.
Otherwise - sorry, looks like you might need to get a new one!
