Is it easier to get "eBooks" published?
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 12:19 PM by HypnoToad
Can I publish my own, or is the cost of getting an eBook encoder too expensive?

And do eBooks allow the inclusion of color pictures; or is it all text only?

So much for being an entrepreneur... ;)

1. Hi ...

Yes, it's much easier to get eBooks published. You can use something like Microsoft Office and make it a PDF eBook (this is better because both PC and Mac users can use these), or you could make a website with HTML and then compile it into a file.

If you're wanting to sell it, you can self-publish. There are services out there which will help you do so. Alternatively, you could go to a professional eBook publisher. They'll likely take a cut of the profits, but they generally know what they're doing in terms of advertising and setup. It's somewhat (but not totally) easier to have your work accepted by an eBook publisher, as they don't have to worry about the costs associated with printing and shipping an actual book.

2. The only way to make money is to sell.
Thx much for the info; I'll look up Adobe. Portable standards are cool...

4. Oh, I know it!
I wrote an eBook not long ago, about home businesses. :) I found that advertising was more difficult than actually writing the book. There are so many options, and so many ways to lose your shirt for picking the wrong ones!

3. Being published = easier.
Being read is about the same difficulty.
