Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 09:45 AM by dolo amber
I'm just checking. I was just told 'elsewhere' that it wasn't ok for me to be a member of DU and be an 'out' Independent. So if you want, I'll just pack my things now and go....*sniffle*....

"I don't need anything but this chair...and this ashtray..."

2. Fine with me
Don't you go anywhere.

However, most States don't allow you to participate in primaries unless you declare a party. If that's ok w/you, it's ok with me. :-)

4. I was a registered...........
Independent since I could first register to vote. I only recently re-registered to Democratic so I could vote in primaries. Don't despair, being able to choose the best candidate, no matter of party affiliation, is something to be proud of. If they kick you out, they'll have to kick me out as well. And they won't do that until they 'pry my keyboard from my cold, dead hands'. ;)

5. GUESS WHAT?! I'm unaffiliated, too.
Kinda sorta, anyway. My NEW voter registration card hasn't been stamped "Democratic" yet, but it will on March 9th.

I guess they still have records from the last time I voted, but still...

Don't you be goin' anywhere!

6. Hey, everyone in WI is registered "unaffiliated"
We don't register by parties here at all. (You pick which primary you want to vote in on election day -- and you don't even need to tell anyone, because all of the parties are on the same ballot; you just fill out one part.)

To be a "registered Democrat" in WI means to actually pay dues to the Democratic party.

20. To clarify:
Anyone can call themselves a Democrat here, but the only way one has of tracking who's who is by the Democratic party membership roster. So we don't have any reliable statistics about how many Democrats, Republicans and others we have here, since membership rosters don't reflect people who identify as one but aren't members, and polls only go so far.

(I hope that makes more sense.)

11. Calm down, Skittles Jr.
:D

It's of no matter who; suffice it to say I believe this person had a bad DU experience and was soured on the whole thing. Although in fairness I have no idea what the problem is, but there's deffo a problem of some sort.

But it's good to know I'll not be branded with a crimson I anytime in the near future...;)

10. Nothing is ok, everything is permitted.
Or....something to that effect. Just don't vote LaRouche and we'll all be happy like a gibbon.

14. LaRouche...
what an annoying bastard. He had loudspeakers on cars and was driving up and down the streets in Washington. Seriously, it sounded more like the Nazis in that scene from "Saving Private Ryan" where they were screaming things like "The Statue of Liberty is kaput!"

Man, those things are hard to steer with all that luggage on your head! And to have to be juggling chainsaws the entire time, and all those damn chimpanzees swarmin' around you.....Next time, I'm sooooo NOT going through "Happy Clown Movers!"

12. Mine is too
And I'm lucky enough to live in a state where I can declare my affiliation when I arrive at the polls... vote, then undeclare myself before I leave.

In 1992, when Tsongas readily took the state (his home state) I declared myself to be a Republican and then voted for someone other than GHWB... just to take a vote away from him.
