Is it me or is there something different about DU?

I haven't visited much lately. I've just been too darn busy. However last night due to the Maine Caucus' I made a few posts and in doing so noticed something... there seems to be less civility and a larger need for Skinner and the Mods to keep control. Jeez, I don't envy them that thankless job.

Perhaps it was because I was on the GD 2004 election forum. People over there seem to have some very (ahem) strong feelings about their positions. But I just don't remember DU being this way. It was actually kind of :scared: What do you guys think? If this is the case, I hope it was just that particular forum. The whole thing kind of saddens me.

Hats off to Skinner and the mods though. :-)

1. GD2004 is a cesspool...

...the regular GD is sorta like the GD of old...a few flame fests, but mostly some good discussion...

The lounge is, well, the lounge, minus most of the sex.

2. I've been spending more time in GD 2004 and I don't find it so bad

Thinking back to the Green/Nadar threads of the past, and the IP forum, maybe because the mods are doing such a great job but I really don't find it that hostile.

7. I agree with GOP is Evil

GD is much more like it was in the old days. GD2004 is by and large a forum to avoid if you want reasonable discussion of issues. It has been so much nicer to hang at DU since the forums were split, imho.
