Comedy Central Celebrates Black History Month
Comedy Central Celebrates Black History Month

NEW YORK, January 21, 2003 -- If laughter is the best medicine then in February, COMEDY CENTRAL will rid the world of all disease! Join in and hang out with the black comedic pioneers who've religiously brought us laugh after laugh. The celebration begins February 1.
What do Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Damon Wayans, Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier have in common? Besides the obvious, they've all hosted "Saturday Night Live" and on Saturday, February 1, at 1:00 p.m. COMEDY CENTRAL will be airing episodes of "Saturday Night Live" hosted by these legendary comedians.

Also, starting February 1, and every Saturday night at 7 p.m. throughout February, COMEDY CENTRAL will air the documentary series "Heroes of Black Comedy." Watch as they explore hip-hop's influence on comedy, as well as the incredible significance HBO's "Def Comedy Jam" has had on today's hottest black comedians.

"Heroes of Black Comedy" will also feature the comedic life of Chris Rock, the motivating story of Whoopi Goldberg and will cover the phenomenal success of the record-breaking "The Original Kings of Comedy" tour, which featured Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac.
