Mr. Bush's interview with Tim Russert on Sunday has pretty much convinced me that he has no answer to the question of why are we in Iraq. It is my opinion that a President's most sacred trust is to not spend american lives frivolously.

We do not live under a feudal monarchy where a king may use the lives of his peasants as he chooses. A democratic president must have incontrovertible proof before asking American mother's to give their children. Mr. Bush's preemptive action has cost us 533 lives, thousands injured and who knows how many Iraqis. For no apparent reason other than he "thought they'd find WMDs". Although I believe the CIA has no reason not to give the executive its absolute best intelligence, whether it was wanting or not is beside the point. The buck stops here. What Mr. Bush has chosen to do with that intelligence is his responsibility alone. That's the price for being the President - you don't get all the respect and all the goodies without being held responsible.

My point is that I believe Mr. Bush MUST publicly apologize for this loss of life. If he is not held to account, what does this message send to administrations of the future? That we will allow the government to use the lives of our children as they see fit?

I've written MoveOn.org asking them to begin an initiative to demand that apology with cc's to my congressioal reps. I would just ask that you do the same, if you share my opinion. Thanks for your time.
