It is widely believed that social kissing was invented by medieval knights as a way to determine whether their wives had been hitting the bottle while the knights were away on crusades.

What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen each other in all labour, to minister to each other in all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories? ~ George Eliot

5. Through the years, it has been said ... |
|
that a girl could dream of her future husband on St. Valentine's Eve by sleeping with four bay or laurel leaves pinned to the corners of her pillow. Some believed that lovers stayed faithful as long as each carried half of the same laurel twig. Today, the laurel leaf still represents thoughts of loved ones.

From the time of Solomon, the rose has been the flower most closely linked with love. The rose was sacred to Venus, the Roman goddess of love, and was connected to her messenger, Cupid. In one myth, Cupid was hurrying to the council of the gods, carrying a vase of nectar for them to drink. When he stumbled and spilled the nectar, it bubbled onto the earth and sprang up in the form of roses.
The rose has since been dedicated to all lovers and goddesses and is said to signify love and beauty. A red rose means "I love you." but a yellow rose stands for jealousy and infidelity. A white rose symbolizes purity, while the rosebud suggests young and innocent love.

10. Speaking of Frank Sinatra |
|
Fly Me To The Moon Frank Sinatra
Writer: Howard
Fly me to the moon Let me sing among those stars Let me see what spring is like On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand In other words, baby kiss me
Fill my heart with song Let me sing for ever more You are all I long for All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true In other words, I love you

11. Guidelines for Hugging |
|
Be compassionate, not passionate -- communicate comfort and caring.
Ask for permission -- hugging requires a sender and receiver. Accepting that hugging isn't for everyone is simply another form of understanding and acceptance.
Ask permission when you need a hug. Hugging for wellness is a practice of sharing -- if you need a hug simply ask for one. And if you receive a hug, let the sender know you are appreciative.
Take responsibility for expressing what you need.

14. Love's Philosophy by Percy Shelley |
|
The fountains mingle with the river, And the rivers with the ocean, The winds of heaven mix forever With a sweet emotion; Nothing in the world is single; All things by law divine In one another's being mingle;-- Why not I with thine?
See the mountains kiss high heaven And the waves clasp one another No sister flower would be forgiven If it disdained its brother; And sunlight clasps the earth, And the moonbeams kiss the sea; What are all these kissings worth If thou kiss not me?

A Drinking Song
Wine comes in at the mouth And love comes in at the eye; That’s all we shall know for truth Before we grow old and die. I lift the glass to my mouth, I look at you, and I sigh.

18. I Never Thought About It Much |
|
And probably will never again.
I'd much rather kiss someone I care about rather than to tear out a beating heart and offer it as a sacrifice to the Gods.
The French were better than the Aztecs, but can anyone explain Fundies to my satisfaction?
