9. Well, I went swimming with my overweight 10-year-old granddaughter last night.
I'm trying to inspire her to stay lean.

I was a toothpick at age 10, because we were always outside playing with dogs and biking around the neighborhood -- or frolicking in the ocean off North Miami Beach, Florida.

I need a bumper sticker that says, "I'd rather be swimming."

12. I have a license plate holder that says just that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a fish when I was a kid, competitive swimmer till 18 when mono killed my college chances. Got back in the water at 42, rediscovered it, then triathlons. Funniest story of my triathlon career, I'm doing a winter, indoor triathlon in Tulsa, 500 yard swim, two to a lane. I'm smoking the other 8 in the water (I'm 52 at the time), and some woman says on the deck, overheard by my wife, "That old guy is beating everyone!"

27. Neat! I was just a casual swimmer, but growing up in Miami, you HAVE to be in the water...

there wasn't any airconditioning in my car until 1957 and just a window unit in my bedroom which faced east.

Born in land-locked Pittsburgh, but moved south very young. First saw the ocean at age 3 and walked right into it in a yellow pinafore dress until the waves were swirling over my head. Some man jumped in to save me because my parents were all dressed up, too.

Married a widower who had three kids and a pool in his backyard (wife had died the year after they put in the pool). He still teases me that I married him for the swimming pool -- we met in June and by July, I knew he loved me when he went to the store and bought me a room airconditioner.

I've been thinking about the Masters groups here (they swim in one of the local pools very early in the morning) but I'm not sure I'm up to competitive swimming in the age 60-70 group or wherever they would put me.

Well, I won't be looking like this in Hawaii... I wear one piece suits. Maybe more like this one? Have you seen it? Look carefully for clues as to where we were:
