Some notes on painting one's home
• Nothing beats good-quality paint, good-quality brushes and the triceps of Adonis. But if you don't have one of these, you're only sandbagging yourself with the other two.

• Never paint interiors at night with a non-contrasting color, unless you like going back the next day for touchie-uppies.

• The proper Music To Paint By is worth its weight in hummus. Yes probably isn't it. Neither is "Comfortably Numb."

• No matter how carefully you mask, paint will find a way.

• When you've just moved in, painting is creating with colors that are You. When you're getting ready to move out, it's covering up with colors that are Somebody Else.
