8. Yeah, Freeper, the Constitution. Maybe you've heard tell about it
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 09:22 PM by temeah
Maybe you should stop watching cartoons and read it!

 :hi:

edit: Oops, sorry. I see that you are Canadian. Article 2, Section 1:

"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President"

10. Thanks for the apology but...
I was sarcastic:"Constitution?"

What I meant is the Repukes are using the Constitution as toilet paper.

PS:Since I registered on DU I know more about what's happening in the US than in Canada.(No TV)

12. It's one thing to know of the Constitution; it's another to know what it says.
If you don't know what it says, then how can you tell the difference between it and toilet paper?

9. Of course he'll be President.
They even said so in that Stallone movie "Demolition Man." And that was from the future, so they know what happened.

11. My feelings about Schwarzenegger being able to run for Prez are so conflicted
I would never want him as President, but I do want the Constitution to be amended in order for foreign born citizens to be able to become President.

I gave birth to my daughter in Japan. I don't want to tell her she can't be President.

13. Are you an American citizen?
Then your daughter is too, and is eligible to be President. It's naturalized citizens who are excluded.

John McCain was born in Panama to Americans.

14. McCain was born on an American military base which is considered part of the US
My husband and I are both Americans, but our daughter was born on foreign soil. If I had her on a military base, it would be different.

19. It's not different - if her parents are U.S. citizens, then your daughter is a
natural born citizen and eligible to be president. Why she'd want to be I can't imagine, but I'm sure she'd be better than the oxygen-thief we have now...

25. Thanks for the clarification
I misunderstood the natural born citizen rule.

At this point my daughter wants to be a fashion designer astronaut so I'm not too worried. Although I must admit she would be a better job than the oxygen-thief. :D

My dad teased me about having a kid overseas because he thought natural born citizens had to be born on American soil. Serves me right for never looking it up myself.

Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 02:26 AM by BrotherBuzz
and Schwarzenegger would be an old washed up retired movie star and governor by then. Now, Arnie becoming a Senator from Kaliforniea is a possibility that disturbs me.
