My language pet peeve of the week. |
This REALLY irritates me...the phrase is "would HAVE", not "would of". Should HAVE, not should of. I just saw it again in LBN, and it's like nails on a chalk board to me. Don't know why, but it is. I just think people should be able to speak their own language.
Thank you for letting me rant. Feel free to flame away. God knows I would of. :banghead:

1. People don't read much any more. That's why. |
In speech would have gets truncated to would've and many people end up thinking it's would of because it sounds a bit like that.

2. I know. And if they'd right it "would've" it wouldn't get on my nerves. |
The good news is that this is apparently all I have to worry about. So, my life must be pretty damn good.

5. Okay, my language pet peeve is noone instead of no one |
Since when did no one become one word??? I see it quite often and I even had to look it up in the dictionary just because I was second guessing myself.
