Hair divas...Help! My roomie just got a haircut and it's kinda a nightmare... |
|
She's got very thin dark hair. She just got it cut in "The Suri". Honestly, it would be adorable...except that the bangs are sticking up.
Actually, that's not entirely accurate. The right side of the bangs are sticking up. They absolutely refuse to lay flat.
We've tried straightening, curling, hairspray, pomade, molding wax...I think I finally got it to "acceptable," but there's still a little piece that refuses to lay flat.
Any ideas??
We're supposed to go out for dinner in 40 minutes and she's in tears and doesn't want to go. Help!

She's resorted to wearing a ski cap. Too bad this is Los Angeles, not Aspen.

Um...let's see...
I'm not exactly a hair diva!
How about a hair band of some sort?
It could wrap around her hair from up front to down in the back...
You could tuck the offending hair under it...
Honestly, I doubt anyone will notice...
What a shame though...

3. I think she's given up for tonight |
|
and is leaving the cap on, poor thing.
Monday morning is going to suck big time though if we don't figure out some sort of solution.
I've got a really thin black headband. I'll offer that to her sometime when she's not practically suicidal. x(

5. Dampen it to the root area, then |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 09:23 PM by Whoa_Nelly
hold the bangs down over the forehead area with a hairbrush while using the blow dryer on low and aimed directly at the roots, blowing the downward direction you want the bangs to go. Do this until it dries (a few minutes.) If it gets too hot in doing this, move blow dryer off area for a moment at a time. By aiming at the root area, it forces the hair to go the direction you want it to lay.

and the ends STILL didn't lay straight. Most of it did, but there was still this flippy business at the ends. So then we tried a straightener on just the ends, and it popped up again.

9. Have you tried a wide-barrel curling iron? |
|
Not a flat iron, but the inch and a half thick traditional curling iron? I'd try that and a ton of hairspray (just to get her through dinner), then I'd either go back to the hairdresser who cut it (and see if they can fix it), or I can recommend somebody really good (and not expensive) here in WeHo (Brent at Ulta next to Target--he's a Redken master stylist, and he RAWKS).

That's how we got to "acceptable"...although apparently she doesn't agree (hence the ski cap).
I don't think she wants to go back to the same place and I don't really blame her. Does Brent work on Sundays??

14. I think his schedule varies.... |
|
But the salon is open until 8 tonight if you want to call and ask. He's a kick to talk to, too. My favorite hairdresser in a long, long time. I need to get my layers spiffed up in about a month, and I'm actually looking forward to going in. (I'm notoriously picky about my hair, and have had horrible luck finding a stylist I like, so I hope he stays there for a long time.)
