Plaxico Burress feeling better
BY RALPH VACCHIANO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Sunday, February 3rd 2008, 4:00 AM
PHOENIX - Plaxico Burress' sore ankle and knee were feeling better Saturday and he was able to participate in the Giants' final walkthrough before Super Bowl XLII.
According to the report from the Giants' 50-minute walkthrough in Tempe, Ariz., Burress participated "without limitation." He has been unable to practice all week due to his sprained ankle and swelling in his knee.
"I think he's a little bit better" Tom Coughlin said. "He gets a little bit better each day, and hopefully we'll be able to have some further improvement (today)."
Burress is questionable for Sunday night's game.

17 points? Indoors?

C'mon, Plax. :)

Side note: my football-watching partner in crime is a Steelers fan, and would nearly swallow his own tongue every time he watched Burress make one of those insanely athletic catches this season.

Have fun tonight.

36. Hi Will. Audio Al and I are both Patriots fans... he's doing taxes and I'm watching the game.
Glad to have you folks on board!

Al was born in Brockton, MA but he has family ties to New York, also. His mother was born in Brooklyn, NY and he visited the Big Apple (before anyone referred to it that way) during his youth.

My deceased ex-husband was born in Gdansk, a free state, but now part of Poland, I believe. He and his family ran from the Nazis in the 1930s, and ended up in Washington Heights, New York City. I lived in New York City from 1962 to 1969, and married my ex on December 21, 1963.

We get to NYC any time that we can.

The net result is that we're only "fair weather fans" from a distance for these teams.

Cordially -- let's get to the kickoff!

6. The Giants are playing with house money
The way I see it is if NE brings their A Game it's going to be a long day for us Giant fans

But....they haven't had their A game in a while.

The Giants have been playing more inspired Football of late and if they bring their A Game we have a very good shot to upset "Destiny".

9. "But....they haven't had their A game in a while."
Or.

1. Cold weather affected a pass-happy Pats team late in the season...so they ran the ball 100+ yards every playoff game...and tonight's in a dome...nice warm reciever hands.

2. That final game v. the Giants was affected by:

a) two Pats O-line starters who were sidelined with injuries, and both will play tonight - expect the line to give Brady more time than he got in week 17;

b) Pats had only two days to prepare, as that game was just after Christmas and on a Saturday;

c) Belichick didn't empty the playbook - in fact, his game plan was pretty vanilla - to avoid tipping off upcoming opponents (whether or not it helped is depatable; they beat the Jags and Chargers, but didn't dominate or go wild);

d) Eli Manning went berzerk and became the NFL QB people were waiting for him to become;

3. Spygate has been barfed up again...red flag, meet bull.

I believe we'll see one of two things:

1. The game will start slow as they feel each other out, it will be close throughout three quarters, but the Pats will pull out a win in the end via another Brady drive and/or a Manning error like his week-17 INT. Probability 40%

OR

2. Belichick throws the o-plan kitchen sink at NY (look for a deep bomb to Moss immediately during the Pats' first series), Brady channels Montana and notches 5 TDs, the Pats defense pretends every NY offensive player is Greg Easterbrook and visits their Spygate rage on them on every play...and it'll be a massacre before Tom Petty can pick up his guitar at halftime. Probability: 60%

My humble O on the percentages there, of course.

We'll see.

18. On the other hand
The Pats didnt have to deal with Bradshaw the last time they played.

Shocky's replacement wasnt the force he has been since they last played.

Will Brady be as mobile as he has been with his injuries?

Lots of reason to hope if you are a Giants fan.

11. I have to say Plaxico Burress is probably good for
At least 14 Pat points, maybe 21. Doesn't this guy understand what "bulletin board material" does to motivate teams especially, the Pats? Ugh reminds me of the stupid remarks the Buffalo Bills made before SB XXVI...called the Hogs big fat slobs. Yeah. Smart one. They hung 37 points on the Bills that day (and it could have been more)
Not a Pats fan by any means but I would be SHOCKED if they score less than 35.

That's what they said to us in Boston for so many years I can't even imagine. Hubby was born in 1936... when was that franchise started?

We had to move OUT of the city in 1998 before they felt ready to have a winning season.

Luv ya, sweetie!

OT: I misspoke a couple of days ago. You remember we had a brouhaha about "Hannah Montana" movie promotions. There was no press screening of the film, so I bought four tickets for my granddaughter's birthday and handed them over to my daughter and son-in-law. Wasn't planning to even SEE the film, but --

Grandpa and I HAD to take our grandkids (boy age 7 and girl age 9) to the movie yesterday because their Mom was sick, and their Dad was very tired and didn't want to go by himself.

You know, the movie was really good. It's getting quite positive reviews for the limited run Feb. 1 through Feb. 8. Lots of little girls and their fathers were at the screening! Some of the music reminded me of country, folk and pop all combined. Wish I had been more familiar with the lyrics. Staging was excellent and the film was very well edited to show the ramp up and rehearsals for the show. The 3-D feature worked very well and Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana and her sweet and talented daddy, Billy Ray Cyrus, were very well accepted.

I pray she can keep on the straight and narrow and stay wholesome for her whole life. She is really a beautiful youngster. So many young performers are seduced by the applause and the money. Their lives get totally out of hand. Read: Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton... you know.

Here's a pretty good review from someone else:

Have a great day!

Luv ya!

61. I'm impressed with the Giants D so far
And it's true, anything could happen.

But the 2007 Patriots are a hell of a team (probably the best team ever) but as long as the Giants make it difficult for the Patriots I am happy. As long as it is not a blowout I am happy! :-)

62. I like tight defensive games
Anything could happen and that's what's great about them. If the person has something at stake (in other words, if the person's favorite team is playing) the person is probably tense and not bored at all.

Low scoring football games dictated by defenses are exciting. At least in my opinion.

63. Eh I wanted a blowout
I'd much rather see a 50 point win by the Pats than another 3 point win :puke:

or

I'd rather see the Pats lose.

65. Blowouts are boring
People don't even need to watch the game anymore if it is a blowout. You want the tension to build to the last second of the game. :-)

64. If the Giants can stop the patriots in the first possession then we have a game
Otherwise it is all downhill from there and the Patriots are going to coast toward 19-0. But if the Giants stop the Pats in the first possession it is going to be interesting. Go Giants (without expecting much -- I'm just happy my team made it to the superbowl)!

I'm going to a concert (Flogging Molly!) and I wanted to know if the game is over yet - I REALLY want some buffalo hot shrimp - but I'm sure the Hooter's next to the venue is packed with SB fans... :scared: I dont like large crowds... but I really want shrimp.

100. What won it for the Giants
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 10:17 PM by Aya Reiko
The Pats O-line. They played like absolute shit. They couldn't protect Brady worth a damn.

Edit-

Say what you will, this was a battle of the O-lines. The Giants O-line stepped it up, the Pats O-line kept getting ran over. Give the MVP trophy to the Giants O-line.

They didn't play like shit. They just simply couldn't match us. We fucking had our way with them, and not due to their not trying to stop us. We just simply OVERPOWERED them! How's that dirt taste Tommy boy!!!!! :rofl:
