What cats say
"I smell turkey. What are you making? Is that turkey? Are you making a turkey sandwich? Can I have some? I want some turkey! I want some! Give me some turkey! I DEMAND that you give me some turkey RIGHT THIS INSTANT!"

So, you give her a piece.

2. They learn it at Cat School
It's part of the Exerting Dominance Over Your Wretched Human curriculum.

7. yah, the dominance...
It's TOTALLY all they want. I've learned to just offer a bite or a sniff of everything to Tonka, then he sees I am his servant, then he ignores me and lets me cook.

9. Uh oh, stop with the tomato sauce immediately!
Tomatoes are highly toxic for cats and dogs.

10. What my cat says about ham sandwiches:
"Hey, is that ham I smell? Are you making a ham sandwich? Can I have a piece? Where are you going with that sandwich? I want some. A BIG piece, not just a little scrap like that last one. Oh, good, you're sitting down with the sandwich. Excellent, you turned away for a second and NOW I CAN STEAL THE WHOLE SANDWICH!"

Human looks back at plate after looking away to change TV station. Sandwich is gone, human catches fleeting glimpse of fluffy tail disappearing around a corner.

I have lost several sandwiches in this manner.

That whole someone's-gonna-steal-my-food thing.
